Written by a well-known Breeder, Exhibitor, and Judge of the Cairn,
this well-written book traces the history of the Breed, describes the Cairn in detail,

This book contains many full-color photographs and illustrations.
If you're only going to buy one book on the Cairn Terrier, this is our recommendation.

The NEW Complete Cairn Terrier 2nd Edition by John T. Marvin Copyright 1986, 1975 Howell Book House Inc.
For a number of years this was the standard reference work on the Breed.
It is well-written, comprehensive, and covers much of the material in the Carter book.
There are some differences, though, that are of interest to the Cairn Owner.
Although slightly dated today, it remains one of the best references on the Breed.

How to raise and train a Cairn Terrier by Erliss McCormack Copyright 1965 TFH Publications, Inc.
A superficial overview of the breed. This short book may be used as an introduction
to Cairn Terriers and to dog owning in general.
It is not in the same class as the preceding books.

The Working Terrier by D. Brian Plummer Copyright David Brian Plummer 1978
Although little of this book pertains directly to the Cairn Terrier,
it is a very useful book in that it explores the subject of working
Terriers to hunt quarry. Unlike the other books, it gives the reader
a feel for the personality of the Cairn and other Terriers and how those
characteristics helped them to perform their work.
